“Do more things that make you forget to check your phone.”

What could possibly make me walk away from my phone more today than ever before? That's right, even as a public school teacher with a hectic schedule, I was drawn to give it a little 'tap' to make sure I wasn't missing anything happening out in the "real" world.

Well, my friends, it is possible to just put it down and leave it alone for a bit...without even worrying what I may be missing. So what do I do that could be so much fun or so intriguing that I don't complete that inevitable tap? Engaging!

  1. I spend time with God. Do NOT disturb this mama when I'm in the word with God. The other day, Gigi came to me with a piece of paper that read "yes/no" regarding some adorable concern she had. I told her it was Mommy's time with the Lord, and she already knew it was precious time for me. I pray often, but I make sure to read daily. The beautiful thing about this is, I can do this anywhere, and I feel just as connected.

  2. I workout. Almost every single day. This is the best way to clear my mind, give a big "whoop whoop!" and just be free from life's worries and stressors. Plus, it helps me to feel strong and gives me a little (or big) boost of that feel good energy. Yassss!

  3. I teach. One of my greatest and most exciting passions is teaching. I pour my heart into what I do with children, and my cup literally spills over when I engage. Y'all thought I was excited at the gym? Ha! Teaching is Mercedes x 100, and it fills my soul with absolutely JOY! A phone is the last thing on my mind.

Ultimately, do what you LOVE. Do what makes you feel good. Do what brings you joy. Leave that other stuff in your back pocket, in your car, under your pillow, or any other place where it's not going to bother you. Do it! You will feel good, and you will not regret missing that chick on social media who has all the things we don't actually envy. Do you, boo!
